I've been trying my hand at painting rain barrels lately. There's a learning curve. Acrylics direct from the tube seem to work well. _____________________________
UPCOMING 2010 PLEIN AIR PAINTING EVENTS...
I plan to attend the Harvey Dunn Celebration Paint Out in De Smet on August 13-15. We had a good turnout last year and I'm looking forward to painting at the Dunn Homestead near Manchester.
I also plan to go to the Annual Black Hills Plein Air Event on September 16-19 in Spearfish Canyon. Blue Dog Gallery in Lead is hosting the event and they are wonderful hosts.
A few of us usually manage to get out to paint on Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls weekends during the summer.
Maybe Strawbale Winery will invite us out to paint at the Quilts and Vines event again this summer. And hopefully we'll get an invite to paint at McCrory Gardens later this summer. The Gardens are a good place to let your colors go crazy.

The Annual Palisades Park Paint Out was held again this year in May. It was a rainy morning drizzly 'til noon getting sunny windy kind of day. A plein air painting challenge to be sure. See a few more paintings from a day at the park on Page One. _______________________________

Artists from the Sioux Falls PAAW and Thursday Night Drawing Group worked en plein air with Shriner clowns to produce art for a show at the Horse Barn Art Center. It was great fun and the clowns were real 'troopers', getting made up and posing for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. See pictures from the show on Page Two.
