Drawing, painting, and the love of animals and the outdoors, have been a part of Connie Gisi’s life since childhood. Her mission is to put on paper or canvas what others pass by, but don’t actually see.
She paints Plein Air (French term for painting in nature), or from photos she has personally taken. Living in Northeastern South Dakota, keeps her in the studio during winter months, so she always tries to keep the freshness of Plein Air. Connie works in oils, watercolor, pastels, pen & ink and just about anything that makes a mark. Subjects range from landscapes, animals portraits to things in between… she does commissions.One of her paintings was published in South Dakota Magazine for winning first place the SD Waters Competition.
She is a member of SD Artists Alliance with 8 paintings in a show at the Sioux Falls Airport FSD Gallerie. In 2017 she was active in numerous regional Plein Air shows and received the Artist’s Choice Award at the Harvey Dunn Plein Air event in DeSmet, SD. Connie Gisi was the recipient of the People’s Choice Award at the Paint the Prairie Plein Air event in Watertown, SD.
